In normal circumstances, I would be writing about an adventure to Croatia or Scotland. A Croatia plan was hatched. Or perhaps a blog about a Mediterranean Cruise to glorious seaside attractions. In fact that cruise was scheduled and partially paid for before being canceled due to the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic.
We stay at home, we work at home, we have grocery and food delivery, we have zoom meetings, we binge on everything in the Netflix and Amazon Prime catalog. We watch sports take place in hubs or bubbles.
We wear masks and select creative ones that reflect our personalities and interests. We wonder how following scientific and medical advice can possibly cause a political divide and some sort of affront to liberties or that somehow it reveals some sort of mental weakness. 2020 is the craziest year (not to mention Kobe Bryant, Australian fires, dual Gulf of Mexico hurricanes, murder hornets). Nothing is ever going to be the same.
But at some point, a real vacation is desired and required. This time a socially or physically distanced trip to roads less traveled and sparsely populated places. So this is an adventure to tranquil, beautiful, and strange sites of south central Utah. We will tour and view from scenic drives and overlooks. And maybe throw in some short hikes. It's an escape from home, from COVID-19.
A COVID-a-Loco Escape r-UTE!
