I´m at the end of the trip. Time for one last night in Brussels, then the long plane trip back to the USA.
The Alps this week were wonderful, but clouds covered the area when I went to the top of 2 mountains. Murren is a nice little laid back town, not as touristy as others. Lisa, 2 people farted in public walking down the street! I had to join in, but I did look around first.
The Swiss dinner I had was fantastic. It was beef goulash strogonoff. The food is brought out on carts and the plates are filled there. Another waiter made crepes suzette for 2 tables. It was quite a show.
I left early Wednesday to start back to Brussels had a 3 hour layover in Bern. What a pleasant surprise. Someone told me it was beautiful and one of their favorite cities. I share that sentiment. It is green, hilly, has a nice river (moving at a very fast current) and very friendly people. Maybe the least pretentious people and city I visited (Lyon is second). The buildings are the image I had when thinking of Europe. It will be worth a second, longer visit.
Today I visited Bruges, or Brugge; depending on your Language choice. It has still standing medieval structures and is also very picturesque, but the tourists have discovered it, too. Many go there for shopping-there are a few fancy Paris type stores. I went for the medieval imagery and for chocolate (and other surprises).
I have thoroughly enjoyed this trip and have experiences that I will never forget.
Back in the USA on Friday.
Hope you enjoyed the updates.
